Windsurfing: Felixstowe Manor End Wind Direction: WSW Wind Stength: 25kts Surf / Sea State: chop / waves Air Temperature: warm Sea Temperature: warm Weather: sunny and warm Max Speed: 24.68 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 13.8 nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
I dont really like offish wind cos when ur heavy you have to go big to
launch but when you hit wind ur blown away. That kind of sums up my day,
always overpowered hoping the wind would ease a bit, but it didn't and I
was just too lazy to rig another sail, flattening off the 7.2L which seem
to make it too twitchy in the offshore wind.
Sea was choppy (although like Squiz my speed was sh'te at 24.58kts but I
dug in on broad runs twice, bruising my ribs on the 2nd catapult. I spotted
a hole in my 120L, as I was about to launch it so had to persevere with the
140L which was ridiculously hard work, in the heavy chop even taking the
fin down to 44cm.
There must have been 10 out in the very good conditions with 4 of them
doing the Wadgate run a mile out.
Normally I would have joined in, but was a bit nervous after the board and
rig separated, and I faced a 50 metre swim after giving up the chase for
the board and rig. Never been so happy to touch down on the beach! and
luckily Chris (thxs) spotted my bd drifting 100M 's down and grabbed it
close to the beach.
I thought I would lose the rig but again luckily the coast guard wasgoing
to the docks when they heard the shouts and dragged it in, 20 mtrs from the
beach (although they almost wrecked it, dragging it under the boat!) Still
cant be ungrateful :)
My last 3 sails have been eventful so I am hoping my luck will now change.
I cant give 5 stars as only covered 13nm and 24.68kts which is crap in
those conditions perfect for my damaged bd. Roll on Sunday...
